Use of specific and proper term instead of whitewashing

[edit]

@Daminb has been whitewashing the stories in the Quran by using vague and meaningless words. Please stop. WP:NPV say editor should "call a spade, a spade" setting aside personal biases. Refael Ackermann (talk) 23:29, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, @Refael Ackermann.
With all due respect, I believe you are in the wrong here. I would not call "killing" a vague or meaningless word, but this is not where the issue is. "Genocide" is a specific term, which requires specific conditions for its usage. Setting aside your and my opinions on whether the event meets those criteria, we should look at trusted sources and how they refer to the event. The respected books I am aware of do not use the term "genocide". Hence, I believe the usage falls under WP:OR - something that you came up with without the support of sources. For this reason, I advise you to present some good sources, which call the event a genocide.
As for your claim of me violating WP:NPV - again, you have to provide proof that the term you are using is the one widely accepted by academic writers. The most senior sources in the article do not take that position. In addition, I am afraid "genocide" has become a loaded term in recent years, thus going against MOS:LABEL and actually infringing WP:NPV.
I would be glad if you respond to my concerns here, as well as here. In case of a failure to address those issues, I may seek to revert your edits.
Yours faithfully,
